Many healthcare workers have also been using the app and making videos of popular TikTok dances to boost morale on shift, which has helped to foster community among medical staff around the world.Īccording to Ros Ben-Moshe, La Trobe Adjunct Lecturer in Public Health: There’s something about scrolling through bite-sized, funny videos that’s so addictive – and provides a much-needed break from the reality of what’s happening in the world. The app has seen a massive surge in popularity during COVID-19 while most of us are stuck at home. One of the most popular quarantine activities, however, has been getting behind a platform that’s largely been favoured by Gen Z until this point: TikTok. Others have been embracing their green thumb in the garden, while jigsaw puzzle and board game sales have soared. Many of us have turned to baking bread to pass the time. This book is silly, witty and super funny.A few new trends have cropped up during self-isolation. One day, the crayons had enough, and QUIT! Each one left a note with their grievances and it’s up to a little boy, named Duncan, to fix their problems and get them back so he can color. Who knew it was so hard to be a crayon? We’ll apparently it is extremely hard to live inside that little box with all those other colors. The Day The Crayons Quit by Oliver Jeffers My son could hardly breathe through his laughter in parts of this book. How dare you drop peanut butter and jelly on him when he’s telling his story?! These little instructions send little Louie over the edge a bit, and he has to learn to persevere and be okay with a little bit of a mess. It’s a story about a boy named Louie, who just wants to tell you a story, but keeps getting interrupted by…you. This book is whimsy, interactive, and a bit…messy. Is there any better way to get kids to laugh, than by making the adults in their lives look silly? I think not! A Perfectly Messed-Up Story by Patrick McDonnell So parents are stuck yelling words like “Blork!” and sentances like “I’m a _. My son adores this book! Mainly, he just likes making me look like a fool… The premise of this book is that whoever reads the book, has to read every word….no matter how silly the word is. Things spiral a bit out of control in this book, and the boy’s antics will leave any kid rolling on the floor with laughter. Oh but he’s not deterred, this boy is determined to get down his kite…no matter what. Stuck, is a story of a boy who’s kite gets stuck in a tree, so he throws up his shoe to get it down, but that gets stuck too. His books are quirky and funny for both parents and kids. Oliver Jeffers is another writer that I gravitate towards.

These books are witty, a bit quirky and always end in hilarious, unexpected ways.
#LAUGH 7 YEARS FROM NOW SERIES#
Oh my gosh guys, these books are amazing! They are seriously funny for both kids and adults. The series is about two friends, Elephant and Piggie, and their hilariously funny conversations. When I was looking for early readers for my son, I ran across his Elephant and Piggie series. I first heard about Mo Willems through his very popular Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive The Bus! series, and my family fell in love with with his humor. After all, there’s no better medicine than laughter… I Broke My Trunk by Mo Willems So, I turn to books to help me reconnect and say goodnight with happy hearts, hugs, and kisses.īecause of my mission to end the day well with my kids, I’ve been turning to books that make both my son and me laugh-out-loud. After barking orders all evening, “ clean up your toys!”, “brush your teeth!”, “ put on your pajamas!“, it’s difficult to end the day with peace and joy. There’s nothing better than laughing with my kid.Įxperts say that there are three very important times of day to connect with your children, when they first wake up, when they get home from school, and at bedtime.īut man, bedtime can be hard. With joyful tears welling up in his eyes, he says to me “That’s HILARIOUS!! Read it again, Mommy!”Īs I turn to the beginning, I realize that this is my favorite part of the day. My 5-year-old erupts in a fit of giggles. “Hey Piggie, what happened to your nose!”
